BEIS seeks views on green homes finance initiative

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the Carbon Trust and PwC are hosting a market engagement event to hear industry opinions on the Green Home Finance Accelerator (GHFA) scheme, which is to launch in early autumn.

The purpose of the Green Home Finance Accelerator (GHFA) programme is to drive innovation in the green lending market and support the establishment of a diverse range of green finance products which incentivise domestic energy performance improvements for both owner occupiers and private landlords.

The GHFA programme will provide up to £20 million grant funding to support UK retail lenders to design, develop and pilot a range of finance propositions which encourage domestic energy efficiency and low carbon heating retrofits.

The main objectives of the programme include:

  • support lenders and other providers to develop and pilot a range of innovative green finance products that enable home energy efficiency and low carbon heating improvements

  • develop capability among finance providers in the design, development, and commercialisation of green finance products

  • develop partnerships between lenders, investors, energy efficiency, low carbon heating and property value supply chains

  • support lenders and other providers to investigate and understand consumer barriers and motivators for energy efficiency and low carbon heating investment

  • reduce consumer barriers to finance domestic low carbon heating and energy efficiency measures

  • establish an evidence base to enable effective design

The Carbon Trust / PwC are holding a virtual market engagement event for potential applicants on 20 July 2022, 12.00 to 1.30pm. The event will provide further information on programme aims, application criteria and competition processes. Register here at eventbrite.co.uk.
