BEIS launches a £20m Green Home Finance Accelerator (GHFA)

Innovative finance solutions to decarbonise the UK’s housing market

The Green Home Finance Accelerator (GHFA), part of the UK Government’s Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP) will provide up to £20 million grant funding to support the design, development and piloting of a range of finance propositions which encourage domestic energy efficiency and low carbon heating retrofits in the owner-occupied and private rented sectors.

BEIS launched a grant competition to fund the development of green finance products which can enable uptake of home energy efficiency and low carbon heat measures in the non-fuel poor sector.

The programme aims to accelerate activity in the green finance market and support the establishment of a diverse range of green finance products which incentivise domestic energy performance improvements across a range of consumer segments. Critical to achieving its aims, GHFA seeks to encourage partnerships between lenders, investors, energy efficiency, low carbon heating and property value chains, leading to products which offer homeowners more complete end-to-end services.

On top of driving innovation the GHFA aims to explore consumer barriers and motivators for energy efficiency and work towards helping to reduce these barriers and finance domestic low carbon heating and energy efficiency.
