A year of climate action in Aberdeen
Over 3,500 homes have now been connected to the district heating network, as part of a number of actions taken to combat the climate and nature emergency.
Aberdeen Council has provided a roundup of the year’s activity, supporting their journey to net zero and climate resilience.
Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Ian Yuill said:
“Climate change is happening now and it’s vital that we work with partners to reduce the impact. It’s important to review the action taken to date, and there is much more to do to meet our net zero ambitions.”
Vice-convenor of the Net Zero, Environment and Transport committee, Councillor Miranda Radley, added:
“Addressing the climate and nature emergency not only affects the environment but also delivers social and economic benefits for the North East.”
The collaborative actions were taken by the Council and partner organisations to help deliver on the six themes set out in the Net Zero Aberdeen Routemap, and Aberdeen Adapts framework.
