Spotlight on The Heat Hub Grand Challenge
In September, Scottish Enterprise is launching the ‘Heat Hub Grand Challenge’. This is an exciting opportunity aimed at encouraging consortia to develop proposals for a ‘Heat Hub’ which will help position Scotland as a leading location in Europe for low carbon heat manufacturing.
It is designed to maximise innovative project proposals by enabling and facilitating industry, academic and third sector collaborations which will stimulate those at the centre of low carbon heat manufacturing to create the vision, demand-led design and operational model for a Heat Hub.
Heat Hub objectives include:
Focal point for inward investment, demonstrating that Scotland can provide a ready-made support system for their growth
Centre for collaboration for companies, researchers and customers, connected to the Scottish and international innovation ecosystem
Window to the low carbon heat solutions of the future, through demonstrators and intelligence on market requirements
Address challenges to growth of the industry through facilitation or direct support
Enable industry leadership with companies invested and investing in the centre
The Grand Challenge requests proposals to come from consortiums which have industry and academic representation. There can be more than 1 company or academic represented but they cannot be represented across multiple proposals. Third sector organisations can also make up the consortium partnership.
There will be a two-stage application process: consortia will submit a pre-proposal application, with up to four invited to the full proposal stage, with an award of up to £75,000 in grant to support eligible business case development costs.
