Vaillant, in collaboration with Derby College Group, is investing in 10 full-time employed apprentices for their three-year Low Carbon Heating Technician Apprenticeship (LCHTA) courses in the UK.

Alongside attaining the Level 3 Low Carbon Technologies qualification, apprentices will receive comprehensive training in the latest heat pump and other low carbon technologies essential for the role. Additionally, they will gain a broader understanding of the heating industry and learn how to conduct themselves professionally in customers' homes to provide exceptional service. This includes acquiring additional qualifications and skills such as plumbing, bricklaying, plastering, electrics, and customer service to ensure they are proficient in delivering quality work at every job.

Throughout the course, apprentices will benefit from hands-on experience gained from working across various departments within the Vaillant business, enhancing their abilities and competencies. The program includes on-the-job training with qualified heating engineers in the second and third years to provide further installation experience.

The LCHTA course is recognised by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) and was developed by MCS with input from employers across the low carbon heating sector, including MCS certified contractors. It is also part of the Green Apprenticeships holding the Kings Standard, launched to commemorate the coronation of King Charles III.

Mark Wilkins, Vaillant’s training and technologies director, emphasised: “Investing in young people and encouraging new entrants to the industry is paramount for the future of low carbon technologies. I was delighted to see such a huge interest in the Low Carbon Heating Technician Apprenticeship, and we have been overwhelmed with the amount of passion and drive that all applicants displayed,”
